MARSHAL TITO'S SPIRIT / MARŠAL

MARŠAL, 1999.
20:30 sati

MARSHAL TITO'S SPIRIT / MARŠAL
1999., 97 min.
Director / Režija: Vinko Brešan
Screenplay / Scenarij: Vinko & Ivo Brešan
Cast / Uloge: Dražen Kuhn, Linda Begonja, Ivo Gregurević, Boris Buzančić, Ilija Ivezić, Inge Apelt, Predrag Vušović, Bojan Navojec, Ljubo Kapor
Stipan is a policeman who comes to a small Adriatic island off the Croatian coast in order to investigate reported strange phenomena that had frightened the whole population. At first, nobody wants to co-operate with him, but he finally finds that the island is being allegedly haunted by the ghost of Josip Broz Tito, Communist leader of former Yugoslavia. For Luka, the mayor, this is the opportunity to turn entire island into Tito-themed amusement park. Tito's WW2 veterans, on the other hand, don't believe in ghosts; for them, the apparition is actually Tito himself, who had returned in order to lead them into a new revolution which would restore Communism...
Having somewhat changed a true event (the fisherman of Novigrad, Borko Maroja, claims he saw the Tito's ghost and talked to it in 1995), the scriptwriters located their own story on a Dalmatian island, where appearance of the Tito's spirit provides opportunity to this ignored island and its inhabitants to leave their humdrum living by engaging in Socialist-partisan tourism… Ridiculing their own past and political idolatry, the authors bravely deal with the changed picture of the life - the result being a political satire smartly playing with our past and present, with our virtues and faults…

DROPS OF SEA, DROPS OF SUN / KAPI MORA, KAPI SUNCA
2012. 29 min.
Director / Režija: Matko Petrić
Narator: Ivica Vidović
Artistic/documentary film about small town Komiža on island Vis, was developed on the story of writer and journalist Renato Baretić, and verses of poet Jakša Fiamengo... The story of the town and the sea, the story of life and death, the story of coming and leaving, to be or not to be, fiction and reality of beautiful Vis and Komiža...
Filmski prvijenac Komižanina Matka Petrića "Kapi mora, kapi sunca" lirsko je dokumentarna priča u kojoj stihove pjesnika Jakše Fiamenga, također Komižanina, i tekstove književnika Renata Baretića, čita legendarni hrvatski glumac, opet Komižanin, Ivica Vidović.

GANGSTER OF LOVE / GANGSTER TE VOLI

GANGSTER OF LOVE / GANGSTER TE VOLI
2013. 75 min.
Director / Režija: Nebojša Slijepčević
Screenplay / Scenarij: Nebojša Slijepčević, Vanja Jambrović
„Gangster of Love“ is a documentary tragicomedy, which highlights some serious social issues. Twenty-five years ago Nedjeljko Babić left his job as a carpenter to begin his God-given career: matching lonely men and women. He became famous very fast, thanks to his skill as a matchmaker, but also his nickname – Gangster. He got it solely thanks to his image: he always wears sunglasses. When the pretty Bulgarian Maja (33) asks Gangster to help her find a new husband, it initially appears to be a simple task. But she is a single mother and a foreigner, making it a mission impossible for Gangster.

THE HIGH SUN / ZVIZDAN

THE HIGH SUN / ZVIZDAN
2015., 123 min.
Director / Režija: Dalibor Matanić

„The High Sun“ shines a light on three love stories, set in three consecutive decades, in two neighbouring villages with a long history of inter-ethnic hatred. It is a film about the fragility – and intensity – of forbidden love.
In the first story, set in 1991, a romantic attraction is forced under-ground when love becomes a forbidden luxury in the pre-war atmosphere of madness, confusion and fear.
In the second story, set in 2001, the war is over but the lovers find it impossible to turn their infatuation into an ongoing relationship: the scars of the war are still too fresh and cannot heal that easily.
The third story takes place in 2011, when love can finally take root, if the lovers can break free of the past. Evil and suspicion have not completely vanished from their lives and catharsis is not easy to achieve, but it is possible once again.
